بطری های پلاستیکی یکبار مصرف آب

Selling water?

Amazing facts about drinking water bottles

Cleaner or healthier water?
Some people prefer water in plastic bottles to tap water because they think it is healthier. Various researches and tests in developed countries have shown that tap water is much healthier than water in plastic bottles. Also, tap water is less contaminated and has less potential to become a source of infection than water from plastic bottles. According to Professor Paul Javaner of the University of Glasgow and author of “Water is Everything”, tap water is checked daily by relevant authorities. Tap water also contains a small amount of chlorine, which helps prevent the spread of any harmful bacteria.

Meanwhile, companies that manufacture plastic water bottles do not have to share their findings with the public. These companies only need to conduct more frequent tests at the water source, and once the water is filled and packaged in plastic bottles, it is stored for months before being sold, without the addition of any disinfectants such as chlorine. Once opened, this water can be exposed to infection.

The harmful effects of plastic water bottles on the environment

Production
When you pick up a bottle of water, imagine that it takes 3 full bottles of water and a quarter of a bottle of oil to produce it. This is the amount of fuel needed to make one plastic water bottle. In other words, according to the results of researchers, the production of one liter of bottled water is equivalent to three liters of water and 6.5 to 10.2 million joules of energy is consumed, and 165.6 grams of carbon dioxide is also produced. In fact, drinking a bottle of water is equivalent to driving a “car” for a distance of one kilometer.
Waste of water
Considering that for each bottle of water, 3 bottles of water must be used to fill the same bottle, the amount of water used to produce this plastic bottle is far more than expected. By 2025, it is predicted that 2 out of 3 people worldwide will not have access to water.
Recycle
Water bottles are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic, which is fully recyclable but at a very low rate. Reusing these drinking water bottles poses health problems because (PET) can leach into the contents of the bottle. (PET) is not biodegradable, but phototherapy. This means that it is divided into smaller pieces over time. These parts absorb toxins and organic pollutants such as bisphenol A (BPA) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) and contaminate water bodies, soil, animals and marine animals. If these parts catch fire, toxic gases enter the air.

What should we do now?

  • Do not use plastic water bottles. Instead, use steel containers to store water.
  • If you want to save water and don’t bother washing, buy vegetable dishes instead of plastic ones.
